All my children are now grown. It is most definitely official with the last one turning 18 right before Christmas, the middle one 20 at the end of November, and the oldest turned 27 just the other day.
There was a time when i didn't enoy parenting, but something happened in my heart many, many years ago that seemed to sweep out some stone cold attitude and usher in a new season of warm affection; something completely alien to me from my own childhood.
One of the few things that I did enjoy when the boys were little was hugging them. I loved their little kisses and their declaratons of love for me and their dad. Once I took the plunge into really opening my heart to giving and receiving love, I became excited to get up in the morning, something that I wasn't very good at; a learned behavior from my own parents, and those before them. I would say that, without a doubt, saying yes to Christ was the catalyst for all the change and the joy and the love that has since become the norm for us.
Thank you, Jesus!
